Hi Victoria,

I wanted to formally thank you and the team for making my trip to Kharkov this 24th-31st January 2009 so successful and enjoyable that I did not want to leave.

Firstly, the accommodation arrangements at Sumskaya 44 were exactly what was needed with a smart, modern, warm and internet equipped apartment. The location was perfect in the centre of town and though I was worried about noise from being next to a 24hr cafe and the main thoroughfare through the city centre, neither in the end was of any disturbance. The cafe next door proved it usefulness on a number of occasions, especially when coming in from the winter cold.

Secondly, the car arrangements worked perfectly. For the first time in eight years of trips to the former CIS I was equipped with a true 4x4 for my out of city explorations. The driver worked very hard in getting me from A to B not only over winter terrain but also in getting back in and out of the city on time. The limo service to and from Kharkov and Kiev's airports was a smart switch in being more comfortable and swifter than would have been in the 4x4.

Thirdly, in tirelessly arranging a series of appointments with local young ladies you attempted to fill the emotional gap in my life. If nothing else it filled the winter evenings with interesting and diverting conversations about myself, themselves and the Ukraine in general. That such emotional fulfillment is still pending is, of course, entirely mine not your fault....! That the ladies produced matched their photographs, and web bios was a surprise to my cynical nature and, despite the concerns of being scammed and experience of being used by girls of other agencies, this never once happened from a lady recommended by yourselves at All Ukraine Beauties.

And finally, none of this would not have worked without your own efforts and in particular when translating. Having come across a handful of self-styled translators in my visit I realised what a thankless task it is repeating the chit-chat of two individuals making small-talk to get to know each other. Many other so-called translators side-stepped this process by answering from their own existing knowledge of the girl or, directly from themselves if it just seemed to be passing conversation. Your direct one for word translation made the whole process more engaging, more intimate and ultimately much more successful than others. I highly recommend you for those both looking for love and those just looking for translation services in Kharkov Oblast.

Now I am married, a father for a first time to my adopted daughter and working with the US government to bring them to the States and I am so very happy. This is the story of how I met the love of my life in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

Checking my e-mail at home one evening, along with all the usual spam, I found a message from a woman in Kharkiv who was quite obviously trying to run an Internet scam. This prompted me to run a Internet search on Kharkiv. I recalled that a large battle had been fought there in World War II, but that's all I knew about the place. One of the links resulting from the search was a marriage agency in Kharkiv, which piqued my interest enough for me to give it a look.

One of the women looking for a husband seemed too good to be true: A beautiful model finishing up her PhD in linguistics who spoke excellent English. So I figured "What the hell", and wrote her an e-mail which, against all odds, she found interesting enough to reply to. Thus began a correspondence that culminated in my going to visit her about a year later in November 2000.

When I arrived at the apartment in Kharkiv I had rented for the week, Yelena called to tell me she was waiting on the street with a cab. Several minutes later I stumbled outside an emotional wreck. That, combined with my lack of sleep for previous 28 hours and the fact that she was truly stunning probably excuses my slamming the cab door on her foot (the start of a beautiful relationship -- NOT). We got together one more time, and actually had a nice time together, but she apparently was looking for someone who looked a lot more like Fabio and had better romantic moves than Homer Simpson.

This left me at the aforementioned loose ends, so I started to explore Kharkiv.

The owner of the marriage agency through which I had met Yelena asked me if I wanted to meet some other ladies. Out of sheer boredom I agreed. So I spent a reasonably enjoyable time with the second woman the agency set me up with, but again there were no romantic sparks.

The third woman I was introduced to was Yevgenia (Zhenya for short). From the moment we met, it was as if we had known each other forever. She spoke almost no English, but my Russian had improved enough during the week that our conversations managed to limp along. We talked and strolled through the city's parks, went to the zoo and then we retired to my apartment. She had mentioned several times how much she loved to cook, and told me that she wanted to cook dinner for me, so we went grocery shopping and then she made dinner. We spent an enchanting evening together.

The next morning she returned to see me off to the airport.

Zhenya and I continued the relationship via phone and e-mail, combined with return visits to Kiev, Kharkiv and Warsaw. Our relationship has had to navigate the quagmire of INS paperwork, the confusion of cultural differences and the language barrier, but she arrived here in California in early October 2001.

In September 2002 Dave and Zhenya again came to Kharkiv to get married in Ukrainian church and make wedding party for Zhenya's relatives.

Dirk was corresponding with Natalya for quite long time but because of very busy work schedule couldn't find time to travel to Ukraine. We have helped them both work out an option suitable for both. Budapest is nearer and easy to come from his country of Belgium, and as for Natalya, she did not need a visa to come to Hungary. In December 2001 Dirk and Natalya met again in Istanbul where they have spent a happy several days.

I've been home for several weeks now since my visit to your wonderful country and I feel compelled to send you this letter of thanx.

I will admit that my journey began a little out of the ordinary, by most others standards. I left with no plan, no idea where to stay, how get around, where to eat and several other important questions. Most of all how do I meet the girls, I want to meet, on the other side of the world?? Yes, I was a little nervous. To my pleasant surprise all questions where answered within 48 hours of my departure from Canada, for this I thank you. While there, I found a tendency to try to compare the different standards between how things are done here in the west to the east, though one thing is certain... there are great lessons to be learnt by the wonderful staff with your agency. Your attention to details, dedication, friendliness and professionalism are a model to all businesses, regardless where they are in the world! Now, why was I there?

For several reasons my visit your country were crystal clear... First my natural love of adventure and travel. Secondly, and more importantly to meet intelligent, caring, straight forward, beautiful girls. Through you, this was accomplished and more. I met a beautiful lady who took the time to show me around, helped me get use to your cultures and talk. In the short time of my visit I communicated with this wonderful girl to a depth I never have before. The beauty, innocence, fun, openness and genuine honesty would be words to describe what I felt and saw. This was a very refreshing change. Believe me when I say; the women of the Ukraine stand out more in my memory than others...and I've done a fair amount of traveling.
